How Long Is a Cigarette?
A standard cigarette is 70 mm (regular), 84 mm (king size), 100 mm (100s) or 120 mm (120s) long. Box height follows stick length: add a few millimeters for the board, the inner frame and the lid clearance, and you get the pack height.

How Many Cigarettes Are in a Pack?
A standard pack holds 20 cigarettes. That’s the legal minimum in the United States, and in the UK cigarettes are sold only in packs of 20. Other markets differ: 25-packs are the most common in Australia and Canada, and some countries allow 10-packs.
What about hemp and CBD cigarettes? Tobacco pack-size rules generally don’t apply to hemp products, so many hemp brands sell 10-packs as a lower-priced trial size alongside 20-packs. Check your state’s hemp rules before deciding.
What Size Is a 10-Pack Cigarette Box?
A 10-pack usually keeps the same height and width as a 20-pack (about 85–88 × 55 mm for king size) but is roughly half as deep: about 11–13 mm. The sticks sit in a single row instead of the usual 7-6-7 arrangement.
Some 10-packs use a slimmer width instead and keep a 2-row layout. Which works better depends on how the box looks on the shelf and how it feels in the pocket, so it’s worth comparing samples of both.
What Are the Dimensions of a Cigarette Carton?
A standard carton holds 10 packs (200 cigarettes) and measures about 280 × 90 × 48 mm (11 × 3.5 × 1.9 in) for king size packs. The packs sit in two rows of five. A 100s carton is the same width and depth but about 105 mm (4.1 in) tall.
The “big box of cigarettes” people often mean is this carton. Distributors also ship cases that hold many cartons, and case sizes vary by supplier.
King Size vs Regular Cigarette Packs: What’s the Difference?
The difference is length. A king size cigarette is 84 mm long and a regular is 70 mm, so a king size box is about 11–14 mm taller. Width and depth stay the same because the diameter and the 20-stick layout don’t change. This applies to every brand, whether Belmont, Marlboro or a private label: the pack format, not the brand, sets the size.

To convert a measurement:
- mm → cm: divide by 10 (88 mm = 8.8 cm)
- mm → inches: divide by 25.4 (88 mm = 3.46 in)
- inches → mm: multiply by 25.4 (2.2 in = 55.9 mm)
Printers and box makers work in millimeters, so give your quote request in mm. Inches lose precision on a box this small.

How to Size a Custom CBD or Hemp Cigarette Box
Hemp and CBD cigarettes don’t always match tobacco sizes. Filters, crutches and hand-rolled tips change the length and diameter. Size your box to your product, not to a chart.
- Measure 10 sticks, not one. Note the longest stick and the widest diameter, because hemp sticks vary more than machine-made tobacco.
- Choose the stick layout. 20 sticks usually sit 7-6-7 in three rows; 10 sticks sit in one row of 10 or two rows of 5.
- Calculate the inside size. Height = stick length + 2–3 mm. Width = sticks per row × diameter + 1–2 mm. Depth = rows × diameter + 1–2 mm.
- Add the inner frame and liner. Both take up space inside the box. Your manufacturer will add them on the dieline.
- Order a blank sample. Fill it with real product and test the lid and how it closes before you print.
Example: a 20-pack of 84 mm hemp sticks with an 8 mm diameter needs an inside size of about 87 × 58 × 26 mm slightly larger than a standard king size box.
